Survivor Centered Economic Advocacy: Expanding Our Approach to Safety

Economic security is central to the goals of safety, agency, restoration, and justice for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). There is no safety without economic security, and there is no economic security without careful consideration of the safety and privacy needs of survivors. Through concrete examples and self-reflective questions, participants will learn how to practice Survivor-Centered Economic Advocacy and develop strategies to strengthen your individual advocacy, enhance your organization, engage your community, and create systems and policy change. Goals: Develop a framework to engage in survivor centered economic advocacy; Learn survivor centered economic advocacy strategies for use in your individual, organizational, systems change, and policy work; Experiment with and practice survivor centered economic advocacy approaches as applied to concrete scenarios; Develop solutions to address implementation challenges within your own organization or community.
